Oh Irene . . .

These are photos of Irene taken by the NOAA GOES-13 satellite at 10:45 a.m. EDT Friday. The GOES-13 (Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite) is positioned over the equator at an altitude of 22,236 miles.

Stepping back for a moment from the frightening storm headed our way, the earth is quite a beautiful and magnificent planet.  Even the storm itself has a beauty to it . . . well, from 22 thousand miles away, anyway.

Stay safe all of our friends on the East Coast!
