Intern Corner-From Intern to Designer

Well I just had my first interview for a position at a Interior Design and Architect firm in New York City. While I didn't get the job, I thought I would share my experiences and tips for future interviews.

I'll admit, I was late to the interview. I was not penalized, luckily, for my delay because the Long Island Railroads had lost power and everyone in the office was running behind. I was forgiven (phew).

Rainy New York City is not the ideal weather for an interview!
The biggest shock to me was how little time it took. From start to finish the whole process only took 15 minutes (even when the lead architect walked in halfway through). I went quickly over my resume, and they asked about availability. Told me a little about the company, what my duties would be and then we moved onto the portfolio. Flip page. DONE. I got through one project. That was it. They thanked me,  and said they would contact me soon. While it could be argued they spent a minimal amount of time on my interview because they knew I wasn't what they were looking for, Susan mentioned that's just how New Yorkers did things.

At least now I will be prepared, with more confidence, for the next interview with a quicker presentation and more to offer.
