Cottage Traditional Meets Today

Designing this cozy cottage to reflect the traditional taste of our client while keeping the space looking fresh and up-to-date was an amazing journey.  As a licensed and certified interior designer, my job is to use my vast expertise to create beautifully designed spaces, but just as important, my job is to understand and respect my client's needs.

Our clients are as unique as the spaces they hire us to renovate.  It is a trait that I truly love about  interior design - a new inspiration behind every door opened to us.  We began this project, as we do many, with a blank slate. The home owner wanted to create a traditional formal living room using solely blue and white.  The beautiful windows and fireplace became our focal points.

The custom cornice and ballooned velvet panels on each of the beautiful windows are by RM Coco.  We painted the walls with Benjamin Moore's Breath of Fresh Air 806 and freshened up the trim with Super White PM-1.  Sofas, chairs and ottoman were custom upholstered by Macy's whose slightly curved edges and clean lines bring a modern touch to a traditional space.  The silver fireplace mirror is by Decorative Craft and the area rug is from Shades of Light.

Lighting throughout the space was sourced through Lighting World, a local distributor on Staten Island.  This antique table passed down from the client's parents, was sanded down and refinished in white to tie into the updated space.  Accessories around the room were brought in to help keep the space feeling fresh and modern while still creating a formal sitting room.

We were also tasked with bringing the dining room to life.  We began with one of our signature molding packages adding crown and ceiling details along with the custom wainscot and base trim all painted in Benjamin Moore Super White PM-1.  The walls were painted in Bouynet Blue SW 6483 and the ceiling inlay in Timid Blue SW 6490 both by Benjamin Moore.

We added custom window treatments to highlight the beautiful and a rug from Shades of Light to compliment the client's dining room set and gorgeous chandelier.  We continued the molding package into the hallway and up the stairway to help tie all of the spaces together.
